Biography
Carol Malueg is the founder of Gifted Roads, a company that offers services for gifted and multi-exceptional people throughout the lifespan. She works as a Learning Coach and Educational Consultant, specializing in gifted and twice-exceptional K-College education and support.
"I own many books on gifted kids and gifted education, and I've even read most of them! When I found out Carol was writing a book on this complex journey, I knew I had to get access to it ASAP, because I was sure her take would be a standout. And I was not disappointed. Carol takes us on a detailed tour of the great--and sometimes, not-so-great--elements that make up the project of raising and ensuring appropriate educational options for gifted kids. She structures her work in such a way that readers can jump in on any stretch of road that's relevant for them at the time and take what they need, saving the other treasures for another juncture--or, they can read straight through and be prepared for anything. The positivity that permeates her content doesn't sugarcoat the challenges. Rather, it provides insights that equip parents with strategies they can use as they build constructive relationships with their kids and with educators--relationships that will go a long way toward ensuring the trip is a healthy and successful one."
- Teresa Ryan Manzella, Co-author, Needs and approaches for educators and parents of gifted gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students NAGC, 2017. Lead author, "Transgender and Nonbinary Youth" chapter in Culturally Responsive Teaching in Gifted Education, Prufrock Press, Inc., 2021.
"This is one of the most entertaining, affirming, and helpful books I've ever read on working with gifted and 2e kids. Carol takes real-life experiences that every parent and/or advocate has seen and grounds them in accessible, real-life terms that increases both the adult's competence of what to do and their confidence on how to do it. Every parent with a neurodivergent kid would benefit from having this book!"
- Dr. Matt Zakreski, Co-Founder of the Neurodiversity Collective and Author of the Neurodiversity Playbook
